Glossary

Takeoff and estimating terms

  • Takeoff (relevé) — counting and measuring devices, lengths and areas across a drawing set; the starting point of an estimate.
  • Active / disabled sheet — an active sheet participates in operations. A disabled sheet remains in the project but is excluded from detection, counts and deliverables.
  • Scale / calibration — ratio between a drawn length and its real dimension. It governs cables, pipes, rulers and areas.
  • Legend — plan table that associates a graphic with a device. A confirmed legend item becomes a searchable class.
  • Built-in symbol — one of the 101 icons supplied in the palette. A project may also create its own symbols.
  • Class — device grouping name, such as Dome camera. Counts, recipes and filters depend on exact spelling.
  • Detection — an occurrence found automatically or placed manually on a sheet. See Automatic detection.
  • Candidate — automatic result still awaiting review. It may appear in a review export, but not in BOM or estimate.
  • Confirmed — automatic result accepted by a user; it feeds quantities.
  • Manual — item created by human placement; it feeds quantities like a confirmed result.
  • Ignored — false positive or deliberately excluded item. It remains out of count.
  • Confidence — score indicating similarity to the reference. It is a sorting aid, not a truth guarantee.
  • Group — label such as a panel or fire zone, used to filter and subtotal devices or runs.
  • Reference line — detected or user-drawn wall axis that can orient detection and guide run snapping.
  • Run — scaled cable or pipe polyline with vertices, group, extra length and type-specific settings.
  • Multiplier — number of cable pulls/conductors applied to cable length. Shared conduit is not multiplied.
  • Spare — percentage added to cable or conduit totals. Slack/drops are instead extra lengths on each run.
  • Area / void — positive surface polygon or deduction. A void subtracts from an area with the same class.
  • Assembly / recipe — list of parts, quantities, units, prices and hours associated with a class. The shared library provides 101 assemblies; the runtime also retains 30 embedded fallback recipes.
  • Bill of materials (BOM) — consolidated list produced by multiplying assemblies by confirmed and manual counts on active sheets. See BOM.
  • Catalog — library of 10,665 bilingual parts. Precedence is project → organization → shared; see Catalog.
  • Override — higher-tier row replacing the same part number or recipe at a lower tier.
  • Free line — cost and/or hours entered directly into the estimate for work outside the plan.
  • Tax snapshot — copy of a tax group and rates stored when a group is explicitly selected. It prevents later changes from drifting the estimate.
  • Revision — second PDF visually compared with the original. It does not automatically become the primary document.
  • Immutable export — file frozen when created. A PlanRelevé change requires a new export.
  • AI action plan — list of writes proposed by the AI assistant, executable once by its creator after approval and permission checks.
