FAQ
Plans and detection
Does PlanRelevé work with a scanned plan?
Yes. A vector PDF supports geometry and CAD-layer comparison; a scanned plan instead uses image templates taken from an example. A blurry, skewed or low-resolution scan requires more review. Start with Symbols, then follow Detection.
Are automatic results priced immediately?
No. Only confirmed and manual statuses feed the BOM, estimate and production exports. Candidates await a decision, while ignored items remain out of count. This is a safeguard, not a promise of perfect detection.
Why is a sheet missing from counts?
A disabled sheet is deliberately absent from detection, counts, runs, deliverables and the estimate. Re-enable it from the dashboard, then rerun or review the required operations.
Library and estimating
What is included initially?
The current library contains 101 built-in symbols, 10,665 bilingual parts and 101 library assemblies. The runtime also retains 30 embedded fallback recipes. Precedence remains project → organization → shared, so your overrides win without changing the default. See Catalog.
Why is the BOM or total empty?
Check active sheets, confirmed/manual statuses, exact class-name match and a non-empty recipe. A missing cost stays missing and contributes zero; PlanRelevé does not invent prices. BOM gives the diagnostic order.
Can I price cable labour?
Yes. Every type/gauge accepts material price per foot and labour hours per foot. Recipes and free lines add their own hours, all multiplied by the labour rate. See Estimating.
Do taxes change when an administrator edits a group?
Organization default follows the organization's default. Explicitly selecting a group stores a project snapshot, so its rates stop drifting. Select the group again to adopt a new version.
Files, revisions and security
What can I export?
Grouped or per-instance CSV, annotated PDF, cabling CSV/PDF, estimate PDF, Excel workbook and project-parts CSV. Every file is an immutable snapshot; after a correction, export again.
Does a revision automatically replace the original?
No. The revision PDF is for red/green/grey visual comparison. It replaces neither source PDF, scale nor detections. To base takeoff geometry on the new version, create a new project with that PDF as the primary document.
Is AI required?
No. The AI assistant is off by default, and every core function remains usable without it. General enablement and plan/spec-content consent are separate. A proposed action requires approval from its creator, and permission is checked again at execution.
Where are files stored?
Under the current policy, the application and stored files reside in AWS ca-central-1 in Canada. Objects are encrypted by the application before storage with per-organization keys. Some ancillary services or subprocessors may process data elsewhere; see Security and the privacy policy.
Who can modify or export?
A viewer inspects, a reviewer decides candidates, an editor modifies and exports, and a project administrator can also share. Organization roles add administrative powers. See Members and roles.
